Trump is a mentally unstable bully – but his spell has been broken; The past week has shown the US president to be mindblowingly corrupt, writes Alan Rusbridger. But where his fellow Republicans once acquiesced, they are finally showing some spine to stand up to him

It’s not enough to stand up to him, he should be impeached and removed from office because clearly, he is not fit to lead

“They are finally showing some spine to stand up to him”

    Lmao it won’t change anything

  3. they’ve “shown a spine” about fifty times before and then immediately folded so i’ll believe it when i actually see it

Performance art, pushback off the record, and acting grumpy behind the scenes is not “standing up” by a long fucking shot.

Lmao they’re just trying to get sound bites for midterms, give me a fucking break

Unless they remove him and imprison him, then they don’t have spine.

No they’re fucking not. Say that when he’s impeached and removed, as he should’ve been years ago.

Wishful thinking. The man is a symptom of something inherently corrupt, broken, within us. If it weren’t him, it’d be someone else, as we may see soon enough.

I hate to be pessimistic, but after so many interactions and observations with/of his followers and colleagues, I’d call it realism.

I’m sorry, but that corruption goes back literally half a century or more

The rats will all stay on the ship until it sinks and thereafter deny everything they previously supported.

  11. I see a similar headline like every week yet nothing seems to actually change 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was running away from a war powers resolution vote showing spine? Nobody is showing spine.

  13. There is no difference between republicans and maga or maga and trump. They’re fascists and traitors. Cut from the same cloth and bent on destroying the country

Don’t get it twisted. The Republicans who have “shown a spine” are either retiring (Tillis, McConnell), lost their primaries (Cassidy, Massie), or are set to lose their primary (Cornyn). Every other Republican wants to keep their job.

This article is bullshit.   The only Republicans who are actively speaking out against Trump are the ones who don’t have to worry about elections anymore. And that’s been true ever since he took office.

knowing I have to pay for corrupt ass trump stealing my tax money.

I can’t afford gas, or food, or medicine.

    Revolutions start this way.

At some point they have to want to avoid prison more than keeping their job

His entire administration needs to be impeached and prosecuted. The 2 Billion fraud is beyond anything imaginable in scale and quality of corruption.

  19. Rats fleeing a sinking ship aren’t showing a spine. They are corrupt cowards running to save theit own sin. Don’t flip it like these guys grew a pair . They did not.

He’s still at 34%. Might not sound like a lot but every one of those 34% are Republicans primary voters. As long as they need Trump to win a primary and can cheat on redistricting nothing else matters to them.

First off I don’t think I’ll ever see a Republican with a spine, morals or integrity and second too little too late

  22. cicerostongue on

Might be a bit premature to say the Republicans are showing spine. They haven’t done anything meaningful yet.

    >> finally showing some spine

is this “spine” in the room with us..?

If they had a backbone, they wouldn’t sit there anymore… all just actors… everyone wants to get rid of the king but no one wants to take the important step

Really? Have any of the people in the Epstein files been indicted? No? Alrighty, then, that says everything about GOP “spine”.
