That we should not copy them and instead aspire to be like countries with high home-ownership such as the People’s Republic of China.

Semi-permanent leases. Capped rent rises. That’s why people are happy to do it.
None of this ‘rents going up every year and if you don’t like it get out!’

This smells like another boomer greedy slumlord/scumlord psyop to try and condition us to vote coalition. ALL people should be allowed to aspire to own their own home. This country is the country of a fair go for all, not just keeping the rich rich, keeping the Gina’s circle tight and closed. Albanese is finally becoming a modern day Hawke with a commoners touch. The days of the cake eater are over.

That when people can take advantage of the system so that they can continue to expand their property portfolio at the expense of first home-buyers, then that is probably a bad thing. Maybe the government should change gears and stop having such a negative system.

How about instead of “forever renters” we have “home owners”.
