One such anti trans organisation is the Labour Party, and they got 400 MPs in Parliament, so yeah they do have powerful influence over politics.

  2. It’s pretty damn obvious really. Any time trans people are mentioned there’s someone from one of those groups quoted, usually as a woman’s rights campaigner, with no pushback on anything they say

It’s telling that, for better or for worse, trans people just weren’t on the radar for most people (transphobic stereotypes and jokes excepted) until very recently.

I don’t really recall the Gender Recognition Act being passed; probably because it wasn’t all that controversial outside a select group of transphobes.

Then all of a sudden it becomes imperative that trans people use facilities according to their so-called “biological sex”, and the incessant media coverage has made it impossible to avoid forming an opinion one way or the other.

Trans led organisations have been saying this (and some) for years and while it’s good that they’ve put out this report there’s also a lot information that they seem to just not know, which really highlights the extent to which Amnesty is disconnected from grassroots trans researchers.

The lack of weight given to our voices and perspectives is part of the problem which is something that I think Amnesty is, albeit most likely unconsciously, perpetuating.

I mean yeah of course. Everyone whos lived through it must of noticed the shift in the past few years from trans folk being generally accepted to being every journals go to for a bad guy. This is in conjunction both with domestic and foregin groups who have put out a lot of anti trans rhetoric.

    I’m optimistic,

Polls suggest about 70% of Gen Z are pro trans. A few generations down the line HOPEFULLY Parliament will be stacked with trans affirming MPs and transphobes will have a hard time trampling rights.

There’s some powerful people who can’t touch gay marriage and abortion rights because of this (hopefully will continue to be like that.)

  7. Well I am shocked, it’s an entirely new phenomenom imported from the USA. None of the anti trans arguments are even logical.
