Not everyone who died at Jonestown drank the kool-aid.

Cults tend to take others with them when they go down.

Nothing? If “MAGA” stopped being a thing, it would be replaced with something else.

But, Rubio will become the presidential nominee and say something like “I will continue to carry the MAGA torch.”

Now you have more MAGA. It’ll probably be like that until the Republicans are no longer in power.

It moves further right and ignores previous failures, blaming others for them

It’s not a cult, it’s a fascist/autocratic political movement (whose supporters exhibit cult-like behavior) that has taken over full control of the US government. It is time to start calling this what it really is, and stop using the euphemism of a “cult.” This is fascism, people.

And btw, proper identification of the political movement is really needed to answer the question posed here.

Schisms will appear and they will start fighting each other, of course. It’ll be the old white person’s version of crips and bloods.

    Celebrations.

Celebrations will happen when the MAGA cult crumbles.

Hopefully the MAGA crowd will be so despondent they will never vote again.

  8. They’ll do anything other than critically analyze what they’ve been on about.

These people aren’t brainwashed, they are fascists. They are not stupid but evil.

First figure out how to make it crumble.  Then we can worry about what happens.

The hatred of trump will be inherited on his kids. His dumbass kids who will have to answer to why their dad ripped MAGA off. A lot of MAGA will still find ways to blame democrats but this is going to be hilarious.

Rule one in ~~sales~~ deal making is “under promise and over deliver” trump had always over promised and never delivered.

Seriously it’s going to be funny for these pieces of shit to claim they are the real victims.

It’s been on a trajectory of merging with religion for some time. It’ll become more of a religious movement post-Trump and it’ll gravitate toward some new leader very quickly because of the mindset involved. They’ll forget Trump and worship someone else to help them cope with life

  13. Some people will move on to other groups, some will pretend they never were associated, the people in positions of power will likely be at the end of their careers, if there are legal proceedings some may go to jail. Any kind of recovery will take decades, by then there will gen alpha senators and the political landscape will be alien to the last of gen x and aging millenials.

The real issue is that America’s empire era is over. China is taking global financial leadership, korea is taking cultural leadership, americans xenophobia is isolating us from the benefits of both these shifts our theaters could be filled with british, japanese, chinese, korean, and indian filns but they arent.

We could have incredible reasonably priced chinese cars but we have to protect american car companies who return the favor by fucking us.

What happens when maga crumbles? We run out of excuses for why the world ‘left us behind’

  14. The issue with the MAGA movement is that despite the Republicans’ best efforts, it’s not a cohesive organizational cult; it’s a cult of personality.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: it’s ***just Trump.*** He, and he alone, gets their loyalty. Not the Republicans, not the people Trump endorses, JUST TRUMP. We’ve seen it time and time again. People who try and rise up the ranks, saying and doing all the things Trump does, yet time and again they faceplant. Whenever Trump isn’t on the ballot, the Republicans either underperform or face overwhelming defeat. They’re not doing anything wrong in terms of political policy that MAGA would support… they’re just NOT TRUMP. And MAGA doesn’t care about Not Trump.

It’s a cult of personality, full stop. And most cults of personality undergo a catastrophic collapse once they lose the “personality” part of it. I believe the Republicans will do everything they can to try and replicate Trump once he’s gone, but more under their own control, less general chaos and stupidity. But they just won’t be able to capture that same kind of unity and success that Trump did, because MAGA isn’t loyal to them, they’re loyal to HIM.

I also think THEY know that. Which is why they’re pulling out all the stops to try and break America’s fragile Democracy once and for all before it’s too late and they’re all voted out.

  15. Some will remain faithful after Trump dies. Most of MAGA floats off and attaches to something else. Not collectively, but they distribute out to find other cults to belong to. I suspect that as a voting bloc they will probably fall apart and not be reliable enough to achieve a win – not on their own.

The political destabilization on the right is what to watch for. They have a lot of concentrated power right now, but that’s going to be *all over the place* after Trump is gone. Remember the insanity when Kevin McCarthy was speaker?

  16. Well, from all the “Don’t Blame Me I Voted for Nixon” bumper stickers, I assume a huge percentage of his cultists will deny ever being one.

  17. I think there will be three major groups.

First, the silent leavers. People who will act as if they had nothing to do with it and do a lot of “i never really believed that” kinda talk.

Second, the grifters that make books and talk circuit appearances about how they left the maga movement and knew it was a cult and just want to help others. Watch your MTG or Fuentes types for this.

Finally, the double downs. More extreme candidate gets there vote.

The power vacuum will most likely net the winner a more destructive and cavalier force. But hopefully not having the same juice as Fat Donny and will go back into hiding with 20% of the voting block.

The GOP will gaslight everyone to rewrite history as if Trump was just a normal president and never admit anything bad happened.

Corporations and dark money will forever run that party and the 45% of American voters will move on as if it never happened.

  19. Pusfilledonut on

Post WWII Germany, 1.2 million German civilians dead, 5 million dead military. In 1952 the US Army took an anonymous poll to see how the German population felt about Hitler and the Nazis, and of the 35% of the public who had supported the Reich, 50% of those people said “ Hitler had good policies but his staff failed him”.

The 50% of MAGA who experience consequences will lie. They will claim to have not been MAGA. They will pretend to have been against it all along. The rest will ride or die, true believers, shrines in their basements…and they will support the very next fascist who comes along, and more fascists will come along.

How this plays out after Citrus Caesar kicks off, will depend on how each and every sane person responds. If there is no accountability, jail time, tribunals and war crimes trials with prison, it will just have been another training exercise for the next wannabe dictator.

  20. it came from corp created TeaParty as anti-obama, it will morph around whatever next hateful person takes up center stage

  21. The Troubles. Car bombs in cities, attacks on civil infrastructure, and militarized law enforcement.
