Russian invaders report a new Ukrainian tactic targeting deep rear logistics, in which high-altitude balloons operating at 5,000-7,000 meters travel to a designated area and then release a kamikaze UAV over the target zone.

As far as we know, the baloons have only been in testing so far, but it wouldn´t surprise me if Ukraine begun testing them in actual combat right away. The Hornet one-way strike UAV apears to comprise a large portion of the munitions being used for these rather recent medium range strike campgain by Ukraine, but its an highly classified and unknown UAV. The manufacturer, a U.S based company, hasn´t even revealed basic specifications

When you gotta go, you gotta go. Maybe they didn’t have a bottle handy.

They should send their anger to North Korea, since they popularized the concept.

  3. Calling occupied territories ‘the new territories’ seems like a pretty good way of guaranteeing continued Ukranian opposition.

    Assuming the translation is correct.

And most of the time the wind blows towards ruSSia, so they can’t use this tactic 😂😂

  5. I’m guessing that even if they pop the balloons the drones still have a chance to find a target.

    “The new territories” :cringe:
Had to double check that, sadly it’s not a translation error.

Simple hydrogen filled weather balloons are a great tool, assuming the wind is working in your favor.

They can still be guided to a degree, are inherently difficult to detect and intercept thanks to their low radar profile and high altitude, and are very cheap and reliable since they’re just a balloon.

Will be a great platform for offensive packages, recon, and EW and I’m glad to see them come into play.

Launch thousands of balloons at the same time. Some with drones most without. They won’t know which ones to shoot down
