Uber drivers in Victoria got a union contract. What does it mean for ride-hailing workers across Canada?

It means one of two things:

A. Ubers days in Victoria are limited, as they’re very likely figuring out how to leave the market without penalties for union busting.

Or

B. It’s about to get a lot more expensive to use the service in Victoria as uber dumps the additional costs onto the rider.

They’ve already shown time and time again they’re a typical anti-union, anti-labour tech company like the rest of them. They’ve also shown they pass every cost possible and add any fees possible to the rider to increase profits while reducing driver pay.
