Shockingly poor policing, weren’t lessons supposed to have been learned after Rochdale? Seems like young girls are still being blamed and overlooked.

    And as for this passage

“Kiera wanted the man who abused her to be deported back to India. But she was told that he had in fact been given the right to remain in the UK despite being prosecuted for a sexual offence against a child.”

    I’m baffled.

  2. > She’s now calling for a ban on abusers being offered lesser charges in cases of sexual offences against children.

I’m sure a ban on plea deals sounds great, but it seems to me that it would probably lead to less convictions overall…

    >A local man witnessed him trying to get Kiera into his car and forcing money on her. Suspecting Shankar was abusing her, he filmed the incident and took his video to the police. Officers took his details and said they’d be in touch, but he was never contacted

    >Shankar was offered the chance to plead guilty to a lesser charge of paying for the sexual services of a child. He received a two-year suspended sentence.

    >Kiera wanted the man who abused her to be deported back to India. But she was told that he had in fact been given the right to remain in the UK despite being prosecuted for a sexual offence against a child.

Every time I think we’ve hit peak UK something like this comes along. How are we DARVOing this one lads? Channel 4 is evil right-wing news?
