Until 2014 NATO was happy that a few days to deploy would be enough, but the annexation of Crimea showed that that wouldn’t work, so the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force was created that could deploy about 6000 troops even faster than that in an emergency.
Then in 2024 they decided this wasn’t enough so they created the new Tier 1 NATO Force which can deploy 100,000 troops in less than 10 days.
They wouldn’t have made any of these preparations for war if people weren’t invading countries and annexing territory right outside.
