  1. The GOP will start mysteriously growing a spine the closer we get to the mid-terms.

  2. absolutelynotagoblin on

Not enough. And I see Fetterman acting as his usual, asshole self, trying to kill these bills. Didn’t work this time.

  3. Maybe the time to have voted for this was right after starting the war not now when there’s a MOU. This is just BS so they can go back and tell their constituents that they tried.

  4. HendricksonT182 on

it does not require the president’s signature and, by definition, does not carry the force of law.

    Rather pointless.

  5. FrancoManiac on

I still believe that they’re laying the foundations for removing Trump from office once Vance clears the constitutional term limit threshold.

  6. Freddy-Borden on

“Senators all of a sudden remember, despite what Trump says, they do actually have Constitutional check and balance powers.”

  7. Boring_Investment597 on

It gives him him a ‘uge off ramp. After 5 months he’s totally incapable of ending the fight he started because he wont shut the fuck up.

Republicans finally step up up and ends this madness. He gets to say “I had the best deal *but /* weak RINOs in congress” or whatever lie he picks to paint himself as the victim and also the winner.

MAGA will believe him when he says he fixed everything when the prices come back down to where they were before he started a war in Iran.

  8. Let’s see where that goes! I am watching Trump in PA. and can’t help but wonder what kind of brainwashed human would believe this crap! We need some real journalists to do their intended jobs and give American people real facts.

  9. No-Cranberry6148 on

    Wow, actually doing their job?

Weird… If I hadn’t done my job in over a year and a half, I don’t think I’d still have a job. How about you?

  10. When the 80 year old man is telling the world he will kill the negotiators if they don’t agree to his peace deal… it becomes time to take away grandpas car keys, or war powers in this case.

“Won’t even make it back to your f@$!ing country”

Holy hell, that’s insane behavior. You never threaten the negotiators, or if you do, don’t do it in a public forum laced with obscenities.

  11. GreyBeardEng on

The war powers he never got from Congress in the first place?

    Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11

  12. This guy just said zero illegal aliens have entered the country in the last 13 months! I live in South Texas and can assure you that people are crossing into America from Mexico illegally daily. No grasp on reality!

  13. Oh weird, John “Chased Down a Black Jogger with a Shotgun” Fetterman wants to keep doing tricks on it for Israel? No way

  14. PrajnaKathmandu on

I think it’s a bit late for this. Trump thinks he’s the boss of the world with unlimited powers. He needs to be removed from office. Impeach.

  15. CulturalKing5623 on

Democrats, once again, find a way to get things done while locked completely out of power. They’ve been consistently trying to get this over the line and the only thing blocking them was the GOP.

I know a lot people will now tell us how pointless it is and how late it is and write it off, but it’s another win from a losing position and another rebuke of Trump.

  16. Does anyone know who the other nonvote was? Obviously McConnell is out (and possibly out forever, given the rumors), but that looks like another nonvoting R?

  17. GriffinFlash on

So glad they did this after they allowed him to….

    **checks notes*

destroy tons of civilian lives and infrastructure as well as cripple the entire worlds economy….

hmm…they could have been a bit faster on that.

  18. For the record – a couple of Republicans pretended to have a spine. Paul, who has been against this from the outset (and is still a prick), Murkowski (I believe the same), Collins (up for reelection so more furrowed of a brow than ever), and Cassidy (who is out of office this year and now can pretend he cared to keep trump in check)

The only reason it passed is because McConnell is in the hospital and McCormick was absent for some reason. They would have blocked it along with the Republican party and that letdown of a senator kn fetterman

  19. phinatolisar on

Trump is still going to do whatever he wants. There is no mechanism in place to stop him. He’s never going to face consequences for anything either.

  20. brute-forced on

This is meaningless. It isn’t law and congress is full of losers who are not doing their job. All of them should be voted out

  21. BabyKevin997 on

He didn’t have the power last time, and still did it. What does this change?

  22. I’ve contacted my reps and senators weekly telling them to vote yes to the resolution. Imagine if the entire country would just place a simple call…flood the phones lines with respectful, to the point, yes or no, to the war powers resolution. WOW, it’s never been done before. So please no matter how cynical you are and I don’t blame you please contact your reps and senators weekly telling them what you’d like. They are our reps so they need direction from the people they represent!

  23. yellowspaces on

Correction: bill passes but still ultimately fails because it did not receive a veto-proof majority.

  24. A_Nonny_Muse on

Congress is the only way this war ends.. Trump isn’t going to end it.

Congress hasn’t even officially authorized the war. This whole thing is due to a rogue president the GOP refuses to reign in.

  25. Substantial-Ad5541 on

Too little too late. These clowns are feeling the heat and scared for their positions this close to November.

Doesn’t matter. Vote these traitors out anyways.

  26. flyingfirewolf on

Oh cool! US Congress finally decided to stop Trump, when Trump himself already seems to have realized he fucked up and has stopped the war.

Still, it’s Trump, and people are already debating whether this can actually stop him, so of course in a couple of weeks or months if he changes his mind, he is going to do as he pleases.

  27. Suitable_Twist_3416 on

Too late. They know it and we know it. Limit what? He already did it. 100 schoolkids +

~~Senate~~ Democrats vote to limit Trump’s Iran war powers in rare rebuke

Four Republicans broke rank to vote for this. Democrat Fetterman voted against. Other than that, it’s all along party lines.
