She doesn’t see race, nor nationality nor religion nor sex she just sees children, pure, bare, stripped of everything.

  2. “It’s not political” applies to a lot of things, but nowadays I mostly see it invoked by people who want to shut down conversations about the heinous, obviously political shit they support.

I don’t watch her stuff, as I’m not a toddler, but she seems like a great person.

Good move to simply own it to get right to the point that matters. Whether or not she’s political takes away from her cause, which isn’t even about her specifically.

She’s not only seemingly incredibly active in this, but really fucking good at it.

    >“I am political,” Accurso told the news outlet. “It’s political to believe that children are worthy of love and care, and that every child is equal, and that our care shouldn’t stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border.”

    >Per NBC News: “Children have complained of limited education, lights that never turn off and moldy food” at Dilley. Amid the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, “more than 2,300 children” have been put into detention with their parents, “with the overwhelming majority held at Dilley, according to figures provided by court-appointed monitors. Many have been held for several weeks or months.”

    >Accurso recently had a video call with 9-year-old Deiver Henao Jimenez, who was detained at Dilley along with his parents in early March. It was her second video call with a detained child, the first being with a 5-year-old named Gael.

    >Speaking to NBC News, Accurso said: “It was unbelievably surreal to see this sweet little face and feel like I was on a call with somebody who’s in jail. It broke me, and it was something I never thought I’d encounter in life… We’re trying to get a child out of a jail to do a spelling bee. I just never thought those words would go together.”

    >Accurso is now working with lawyers and immigration activists “to close Dilley and make sure that kids and their parents are back in their communities where they belong.”

    >“I am political,” Accurso told the news outlet. “It’s political to believe that children are worthy of love and care, and that every child is equal, and that our care shouldn’t stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border.”

Like I said in another post, she’s the modern Mister Rogers with all the honor that entails.

  8. Love her for keeping a smile on my young ones faces and all of this that she is doing

  9. If you can afford to do it, and support her, you should consider streaming her show for the next little bit. An increase in viewers will both reward her financially and reinforce that she is doing the right thing.

  10. Of course, she’s as close to Mr. Rodgers as we’ll probably ever see today. Good on her.

“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”

    ― James Baldwin

  12. this is why america won’t survive

white america is so hateful that thinking children are equal is treason

  13. PlanetOfThePancakes on

Life is political. It shouldn’t be, but when a large portion of the population thinks some people are inherently inferior and less deserving of basic human rights, then their very existence becomes political.

Human rights should be a no brainer.

Yo either live long enough to watch Ms. Rachel or die for Ms.Rachel. My child has the confidence to speak because of her. I would watch the world burn if it meant Rachel is ok.

  15. Insane that something like “All children deserve human rights” is indeed a fucking political and “controversial” statement now.

I love how the American media calls it an “ICE facility.”

It is a “concentration camp” or “detention camp.”

It is literally where the American government is detaining and concentrating – what they consider undesirables – WITHOUT trial.

But sure sanitize what these places really are for the masses.

    Doesn’t fool me.

One side says kids shouldn’t be stuck in prison and fed worm-ridden food, and the other says they’re radicalized by basic decency.

  18. Green-Collection-968 on

Yeah we’ve reached the point of our history that not wanting children born in this country in concentration camps is political folks.

  19. Good for you Ms. Rachel history will look kindly on those who stood up for the right things.

  20. Bright-Owl-3515 on

She’s and idol. It’s an honor to have her be a teacher to the next generation of kids.

  21. She is the new Mr. Rogers. What an incredible person. Her videos and the messaging in it is godsend

  22. People who say they aren’t political might as well be saying they don’t care about what happens to themselves or their loved ones. Our lives are shaped by policies and laws and a million decisions that are made by people with varying levels of power. People who say they don’t care about politics are embarrassing, pathetic human beings.

  23. FineSucculentMeal on

You know you’re on the wrong side of history when you’ve pissed off Ms Rachel lol

  24. i can’t wait to see the “MS RACHEL HAS GONE WOKE!!!” tweets and then the transvestigations that follow shortly after, because everyone maga doesn’t like is trans, apparently.

  25. HyperactivePandah on

    What an absolute legend.

Mr Rogers is clapping and cheering her on somewhere.
